The Rescue

This is NOT my first attempt,

As I gaze towards the left side of the room

(I am standing in a room full of Gods people)

The spacious room WAS consumed with PEOPLE WANTING TO HELP

(We have one firefighter, a retired pimp, and his prostitute, (they found God about 4 years back)

a middle-aged church lady,

a catholic priest)

What do you mean? (They replied)

I have been out there before,

I tried to bring one up to the surface

We must understand that they do not know what is good for them. (I spoke over the group)

They have been living in this habitat for so long,

They are under the impression that this where they are supposed to be

Leaving amongst other species.

(Confusion rose in the room)

(My anxiety started; my patients grew short)

I started looking around when chatter began again.

I grew Irritated by the stunted urgency

That is when I walked out

As I glided past the group

I yelled……………………………………………………………..they will all die WAITING ON YOU!

They started to follow

I started running,

They started running

It was as if they were waiting for my every movement, to begin.

(IT WAS LIKE I WAS PART OF A WEIRD VIDEO GAME)

We ran about 2 miles until THE WATER TOUCHED OUR FEET.

aligned WITH THE EDGE OF THE EARTH, I FELT the PULL

MY FIRST THOUGHT WAS TO GET INTO THE BOAT THAT WAS MOLDED INTO THE EARTH

WITHOUT A WORD SPOKE amongst us, WE BEGAN TO DIG

THE BOAT BEGAN TO RISE OUT OF THE SAND AND THE WATER PULLED IT CLOSER into the water

ONE WAVE AT A TIME

PEACE WAS THE SOUND ABOVE THE WATER THE BOAT GLIDED ACROSS

WE TRAVELED ABOUT 364 MILES OUT FROM SHORE

THAT’S WHEN I FELT THE PULL

(THE SECOND TIME)

I DECIDED TO RELEASE THE ANCHOR INTO THE WATER

I SAT THERE IN COMPLETE SILENCE

FIRST YOU COULDN’T HEAR ANYTHING BUT THE MOVEMENT OF THE WATER

SUDDENLY THE WATER GREW STILL

AND WHEN YOUR HEART STARTED TO BEAT AT ITS MOST VULNERABLE STATE

YOU HEARD THE SILENT CRIES OF SO MANY WOMEN

THE PRIEST LOOKS AT ME WITH COMPASSION

TEARS FILLED HIS EYES, DROPPING ONE BY ONE

HE BEGAN TO STAIR INTO THE SEA

DO YOU FEEL THAT (THE PRIEST SAYS)

YES, I CAN

(I STARED AT HIM, WITH DEPTH IN MY EYES)

The ONLY DIFFERENCE FROM YOU AND I, I CAN FEEL THEIR PAIN, WHEN I AM MILLION MILES AWAY.

TO BE CONTINUED.
